Talking Heads Research

Hi Tracy! I hope you are having a good weekend and that no one is bothering you (other than me).

I very much like the assemblage concept. I did some exploration on a number of artists outside of Cornell and Nevelson. I'm very much attracted to the monochrome look like this image (click here). Content is not right, obviously, but the textural landscape created by making it one color is pretty cool. That may be the way that we stop the entire thing from being too much/too busy. There are also bits such as this (click here) and this (click here) that interest me because of the way that the artists place 2-d images in 3-d space. Seems like that gives us the distance we need for these conversations to be stories. We could highlight the pertinent images and do something similar in the floor. I've started putting a sketch together, which I will post tomorrow.

I also like images like this (click here) because of the distortion of her face and how very specific the environment is behind her. I'm currently researching images that might specifically belong to each scene.

I am also leaning toward making it somehow modern, but not slick. The British syntax keeps making me want to push it back 40 years, but clearly that's not right! Anyhow, I'm very excited by all of this! Talk to you tomorrow. Hope you had a good night out.
