Things/Think

Jungle

The idea that I had here was kind of like combining a Chinese Dragon with the Universe. Maybe we wrap balls in long tubes of lycra and attach them to sticks along with other separate ball like shapes that might have physical things that come off of them like sparkles? The shape could morph and change with movement. I think it would be shiny and sparkly and generally white to catch whatever color Cindy can throw at it?
Perhaps the jungle could be something that they escort on....like a rolling unit to make it as simple as possible? Maybe it has some outrageous plastic flowers and other objects attached?

Beach

I got simpler with this. Maybe something white that floats between the scrim and the cyc with all of the shapes Seussian, but derived from clouds?
Maybe this whole thing is flat with gold glitter with the exception of the chaise... which would be three-d. Shallow, shallow, shallow?
Jojo at the Academy
Mazie at the Beach
Jojo alone in his bunk high in the air. The bed should look rickety, but still metalic and militarily uncomfortable. Maybe there's a bare bulb that travels with the unit (on wheels) that could add some sense of the solitaryness? I'm a little worried about this tipping over, so we could perhaps use the ladder to help stablize and maybe put humans under the covers in the bottom two bunks to help keep the center of gravity low. There could also be rifles that help make up the headboards (or rifleshapes?) to keep with our found object world. One thing we forgot to talk about was Mazie at the beach, so here's a suggestion for that unit. Perhaps everything is covered with glitter. The sun hangs from the tree and might spin lazily around in any HVAC breeze in the theater. The palm fronds could look like feathers. The water could also be glittered.
The Journey
The Things you can Think
This is pretty much what we talked about in terms of function. For the look, Colin's idea of having someone turning a crank to "make the world travel" is a great idea. I've suggested some sort of a Rube Goldberg thing here. My idea with the signs is that along with road signs, we see billboards that suggest where we are in symbol form: basic painted shapes that look like water or whatever. The signs could be in perspective so that they look a little like those signs that would fly by in old movies when characters were travelling. I'm not sure how to rig this, so we'd need a conversation around that. Maybe here we make banners that are lightweight, but hard covered. They could be cut to look like they are blowing in the wind. Different sizes and colors, but not much detail to leave a lot of leeway for the things that we can imagine. Steven, how many of these do you think we'd need?
